The One Candle Tip You Shouldn’t Ignore – Trim The Wick!

Candle Wick Trimming Tips

There’s nothing quite like the cosy glow of a candle. But here’s a secret every candle lover should know: if you’re not trimming the wick, you’re not getting the best out of your candle.

A wick that’s too long creates a flame that burns hotter and bigger than it should. This can lead to ‘burn pools’ – where the wax melts unevenly – and wasted wax left clinging to the jar. It can even cause smoky residue or sooting.

The fix is simple: before you light your candle, trim the wick down to about ¼ inch. You can use scissors, nail clippers or a wick trimmer if you have one. Just snip, light and enjoy the difference.

Make trimming part of your candle ritual – you’ll get a longer lasting candle, a cleaner flame and a more even burn every time.

Great read! I never realized how much of a difference trimming the wick can make until I started doing it regularly. Using a wick trimmer really helps keep the flame clean and even — plus, it makes the whole candle experience feel more luxurious. Thanks for sharing such a helpful tip!
